Centrex Service
For a fixed monthly charge, Centrex ISDN provides a relatively cheap
64K or 128K connection, while regular Centrex business lines can be
used for V.FAST or slower connections. By setting up a Centrex, you
may make calls (within the same Central office) without
incurring any per-minute charges. This is particularly important in
these situations.
- Voice grade (up to 28.8 Kbps)
- Businesses can't take advantage of unmetered residential
rates. For voice-grade connections, they must pay a
per-minute charge, or install a leased line. Leased lines
are quite expensive to install, and while the monthly rate
can be pretty reasonable, it's still more expensive than
Centrex service.
- ISDN
- ISDN connections charge a minimum of $0.01/minute; that
would cost over $430/month per 56K channel for a
permanent connection. There is a new personal ISDN tariff in
place that is not metered during off peak hours, but
is metered during business hours.
Voice grade or ISDN line can be attached to a Centrex. If you already
have a Centrex, you can add a line to a Market.NET site. Otherwise,
Market.NET can add a line from our Centrex to your site.
Pacific Bell Centrex rates
setup Centrex $200 (up to 10 lines)
voice line $70 + $5 for "classic features"
ISDN line $150 (billed only if you disconnect in less than two years)
